Your Novel: The Timeline that Wasn’t

One of the most frequently-asked questions at one of my reading events or book signings is how long it took to write one of my books. My answer for Raincloud was 18 months of writing plus another 10 for editing, design, and production.

Usually their eyes grew at my reply, leading me to sense that they were really asking, “How long will it take for me to write my book?”

Without even factoring in the varying length any book could be, the timeline to complete a novel can’t be measured. It all depends on your tangible commitment and the intangible aspects of your characters and story.
